Acoustibuds offers a new approach to improve the fit and channeling of sound to the ear. Acoustibuds was awarded 2009 design and engineering showcase honors at the Consumer Electronics Show. Acoustibuds is designed for the standard earphones provided with the Apple iPod, Apple iPhone, Microsoft Zune, Sony and many other MP3 players. Acoustibuds also fits many aftermarket earphones and some of the most popular Bluetooth headsets such as the Jawbone2, BlueAnt Z9 and Apple. Not designed to fit earphones that already come with elastic in-ear fittings. Still have questions? Please visit the Acoustibuds product website for a more complete model specific list of compatible Earphones and Bluetooth, tips and instruction for use.
The Acoustibuds design revitalizes earphones to provide unparalleled retention, comfort, enriched acoustics and sound isolation. The closely spaced fins are soft and flexible to stay in the ear more securely. Even with perspiration and extreme physical activity, these fins continue to hold the earphone securely in place due to their unique profile and spacing. Superior sound isolation is also created with the fins to seal out noise from outside. Volume and bass frequencies are amplified allowing operation of your MP3 at a lower volume setting. Inside, the “Twin Cone Core” better channels the sound wave in your ear. The twin cone core guides the sound wave like a miniature acoustic horn to minimize sound impedance enriching middle and upper range frequencies. The fit of the earphone to your ear and how the sound wave is channeled inside your ear are critical to acoustic quality. Both the fin design and the twin cone core are unique to Acoustibuds and are new ideas in earphone audio technology.

1 Star Only useful if you have Goliath ears (or if you’re an elephant)
If I could give ZERO stars I would, I’m so disappointed in this product– “Premium” they are not.
Accoustibuds are worthless (I purchased mine the last week of March 09). The feel of the product is okay (soft and rubbery). Takes small effort to get them wrapped around the Apple earbuds– once on, however, it makes it so that you can’t even put the bud in your ear!
The seller was fine, but, again, the product stunk! You’d have to have the ears of Goliath (or an elephant) to use these things. I’m 6’0″ and can’t stick the stupid things (either size) in my ears… the Apple buds work much better in terms of staying in the ear.
Only way I’d consider bying these is if your current ear buds feel very small in your ears and you need some extra padding…
3 Stars nice but no cigar
The basic concept of these things is great, mine happen to just not fit. Both pair are too large for my “smallish” ears. More sizes please.
5 Stars Fantastic and much cheaper than buying new buds/headphones
I’m not sure if it’s the shape of my ears or if earbuds are just poorly shaped but, either way, I have always hated wearing them. They’re fine for a short while but then they become painful. As soon as I decided to buy my Zune, I knew I had to get some other type of headphones to wear as I was sure I wouldn’t be able to tolerate the buds for any length of time. After looking at various types of headphones and balking at the cost (I was already coughing up enough for the Zune itself), I decided to give these adapters a try.
I think they are a fantastic product. It was easy to get them over the earbuds and I was pleased that they came in two sizes. I find them much, much more comfortable than the buds are without them and can wear the buds for much longer than I would be able to without the adapters. The shape of them also helps funnel the sound much better so that I usually only have to set my volume to 1 to be able to hear my Zune perfectly. In fact, sometimes the setting of 1 even seems a little too loud. I was really happy about this as well because I’ve read about hearing loss due to MP3 devices and was a bit worried I’d have to really crank my Zune to cut out any background noise. I highly recommend these as a much more economical alternative to buying a whole new set of headphones.
2 Stars Disappointing, better to buy in ear buds than these
You can buy a decent pair of in ear buds for about $15, so these adapters are really quite expensive. Additionally they give you two sizes, each that are quite big – the size 6 is nearly useless unless you have ears like the Holland Tunnel.
5 Stars A nice addition for Jawbone 2
I bought these in an ongoing effort to supplant the wretched earbuds that came with my Jawbone 2. I wasn’t sure that they would be terribly effective, but after trying them, I am very pleased. I used the smallest size on top of the smallest ‘stock’ earbud, and it worked very well. You do have to get the angle just right, but after that, it fits fine, and doesn’t require an ear loop. Sound quality is noticeably improved as well. I have also tried the Jabra mini-gels which are recommended for the Jawbone 2. They give a nice tight fit, without the clogged-up ear feeling that the Acoustibuds can present, but the sound quality was kind of tinny; the Acoustibuds sound much better. They are a little pricey, but if they can make a $90 bluetooth headset work like it should have in the first place, then I suppose they are worth it.
