ACOUSTIBUDS Premium Adapters for Earphones AND Bluetooth Headsets A new solution for in ear audio MADE IN THE USA Adapters only earphones not included White Two Pair and Two Sizes

Acoustibuds offers a new approach to improve the fit and channeling of sound to the ear. Acoustibuds was awarded 2009 design and engineering showcase honors at the Consumer Electronics Show. Acoustibuds is designed for the standard earphones provided with the Apple iPod, Apple iPhone, Microsoft Zune, Sony and many other MP3 players. Acoustibuds also fits many aftermarket earphones and some of the most popular Bluetooth headsets such as the Jawbone2, BlueAnt Z9 and Apple. Not designed to fit earphones that already come with elastic in-ear fittings. Still have questions? Please visit the Acoustibuds product website for a more complete model specific list of compatible Earphones and Bluetooth, tips and instruction for use.
The Acoustibuds design revitalizes earphones to provide unparalleled retention, comfort, enriched acoustics and sound isolation. The closely spaced fins are soft and flexible to stay in the ear more securely. Even with perspiration and extreme physical activity, these fins continue to hold the earphone securely in place due to their unique profile and spacing. Superior sound isolation is also created with the fins to seal out noise from outside. Volume and bass frequencies are amplified allowing operation of your MP3 at a lower volume setting. Inside, the “Twin Cone Core” better channels the sound wave in your ear. The twin cone core guides the sound wave like a miniature acoustic horn to minimize sound impedance enriching middle and upper range frequencies. The fit of the earphone to your ear and how the sound wave is channeled inside your ear are critical to acoustic quality. Both the fin design and the twin cone core are unique to Acoustibuds and are new ideas in earphone audio technology.

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars Quite good if you follow the instructions!
I can’t believe how many people claim these don’t stay in your ears – I can only assume they are not following the instructions! When I first opened the package and put them on my Apple earbuds, they fell right out of my ears. Then I looked at the instructions and read about wiggling them into your ears each time you put them on. Now they stay in great! I have VERY tiny ears but the size 6 (bigger pair) were the best ones for me. I’m quite pleased with this product so far. Sound quality is good – honestly these are just caps for your regular headphones, they’re not altering the sound quality in any way, only narrowing the field it passes.

By the way, for those wondering about the sizes being 5 and 6 not small and large, that info is in the instructions too. It’s how many “fins” are on the ear tip.

2 Stars They work, but….
These work as advertised. They improve the quality of the sound and keep the earbuds in your ears. But they are way over priced and way to easy to lose. I won’t be buying them again

5 Stars Works great
Cuts outside noise and reduces necessary volume level on MP3 player. I used to listen at 60% of the volume setting using the iPod earbuds. Now I listen at 10% using the ACOUSTIBUDS on the iPod earbuds. I’ve very pleased and have ordered a set for my sons.

4 Stars Shuffle on down!
Like many people, I do a lot of things with my iPod, so finding good headphones that are comfortable and practical is very important to me. During a given week I’ll be working out, running, biking, on a plane, and sitting around with some `bud’ or other stuck in my ear. The standard earbuds that come from Apple and you can get cheaply everywhere just don’t cut it in my opinion – they aren’t the right size, they move around or fall out, and tend to trap bubbles of sweat in your ear canal when they do stay in if you’re working out.

So I was very interested when I heard about Acoustibuds – if it would be possible have a low-cost way of improving the standard bud setup I’d be all for it! These attachments are definitely an improvement on your basic buds, and while I can’t whole-heartedly endorse them for everyone, I think they are a particularly good solution for a specific user; particularly anyone who is not satisfied with the earphones included in the new Apple Shuffle, which basically force you to use their buds.

So what are these things anyways? Simply, they are small, grooved rubber cones with the large end just big enough to slip over the round end of your bud, and the small end positioned to pump sound into your ear canal. They are easy to install and use, but make sure you get the right size (mine were a little too big, which made them a touch uncomfortable). Once attached, pull your earlobe and push these gently down into your ear canal, twisting a little to get good placement. After some experimentation and adaptation, I found them surprisingly comfortable. The sound quality with the caps was noticeably improved as well – perhaps due to the fact that less of the audio was being lost to the ambient air with the loose fit a standard bud gives.

I did however have some difficulty with the buds staying in place. That may have been because my ear canal is a bit smaller than most, but getting them positioned properly seemed to be a little hit or miss, and it was really frustrating if after all of that someone would come along and want to talk to me, or I jostled them in just the wrong way and had to pull them out and start over again. To be fair, it was still an improvement over your standard buds, and this is probably just a good warning about getting the right size again! I got a 6, but think a size 5 would have been more comfortable.

Bottom line – if you have a new iShuffle and don’t want to pay $50 – $100 to get an adapter or other way of breaking the bud habit, these Acoustibuds a great solution. If you’ve got a bunch of buds hanging around, or want to quickly adjust (and make sanitary) the ones you use on a plane, these are great . If you’re looking for something specifically for jogging or something, you may want to pay a bit more for one of the headsets designed specifically for exercising.

4 Stars why two sizes?
I use my ipod only for listening to podcasts so I am not as concerned about sound quality as people who use theirs for music. I bought these entirely to improve the fit of the earbuds that came with my 4g Nano. My ears are very small and I always have issues with keeping buds in my ears even while just sitting. I listen to my ipod while walking and jogging on a trampoline. The size 3 acustibuds work quite well for this. I would like an even smaller size.

My only criticism of this is the fact that to get a pair of size 3′s, I have to accept a pair of size 5′s that I have no use for. I lost one of my size 3′s and plan to buy another pair (and keep better track of them). So, now I will have two useless pair of size 5′s.
